Things I will never understand…

I have so many things today I do not understand. The list seems, at times, to be endless. I can start with the subject of abortion. That is one of the main subjects I have so much trouble wrapping my head around. There are so many women who would love to have a child and simply cannot, so why kill a sweet, precious, baby who could have parents who love them. You do not have to look very far to see a couple who struggles with infertility. There are many reasons for these issues and most of those issues are not in any way that couples fault. So, if a girl finds herself in a hard situation, why not find a loving family for her child?

The second thing I question the most is the horror of human trafficking. Why do we harm one another? Why do people believe it’s ok to take another human and make them a slave? Make them do things they do not want to do. This is a hard subject, but one I have never understood. God did not put us on this earth to bully and push each other around. He put us here to love, honor and glorify Him and His children. Honoring His children does not include using them for monetary, sexual or political gain.

I think about the man from the ROCK organization yesterday who came six hours to give Laney a beautiful rocking horse. He said him and his wife were sitting out in their porch one Saturday morning after a law enforcement officer in their area was killed and they decided together to start doing rocking horses for any fallen officer who has a child 1-3 years of age. It made me think…why aren’t we all sitting on our front porch talking to one another anymore? Why are we playing on our phone when our family and friends need us more than ever.

Other things I think about are why a loving God would forgive us over and over for our sins and mistakes? We know He will always love us, even when we are just wore out and not doing as we should. He dries our tears, and at times they are many. Why does He do all of this for us? Because His love is never ending. You may have people in your life who put conditions on your love, but Jesus never will. He is always ready to dry our tears and put His arms around us and give us the biggest hug we have ever had. Even bigger than the hugs, Laney gives her favorite bears!

Not everyone will always accept and love you. They will ignore you and not want you around despite your best efforts, but you can be assured you have a friend in Jesus. He is always there. He wants only the best for you! Do not live a life of anxiety and fear. Instead, choose to live in victory! So many of us today find ourselves anxious and feeling panicky, and I understand that completely. We live in a different time than any of us have ever known. A time of complete uncertainty, but may we never forget who we are in Christ. He wants us to live anxiety and fear free!

2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God did not give us a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love and of a sound mind.” (KJV). This is my favorite version of this verse. It ends with a sound mind. A sound mind is a valuable asset. Many days most of us feel like we do not have anything close to a sound mind. We are walking with family and friends through cancer diagnosis, death, divorce and pain. We all want a sound mind. Jesus is the answer. He offers power, love and a sound mind.
